Special Music Enrichment
Song, Story and Dance TimeFrom: The Blue Guitar, Easthampton
with Christina Svane
Once a week, each classroom of children will walk to The Blue Guitar Studio directly behind Little Bear's facility. Christina Svane works with each class one hour a week, engaging them in creative movement and musical exploration. Combining singing, dancing and storytelling, Christina's classes help children develop in body, mind, imagination and awareness of their connection to nature, and all of life.
This is what Miss Christie has to say about her experience working with the children at Little Bear:
What I try to give the children in my weekly sessions is a sense of being on an adventure together, in the landscape of the body, voice and imagination. They have to find the balance between my directing them from the outside, and their creative impulses directing them from the inside. I believe that the great challenge in life is how to remain inwardly free in whatever structure you're working in, and improvisation is the best way I know of exercising that inner freedom. It is constantly inspiring to me how much the LBLC team helps the children to be self-aware, and to articulate their feelings and their needs. I am constantly learning from them!
